'Hard Knocks' Returns: Preview and How to Watch with Sling

Much like the hash marks on the field itself, there are a number of markers fans look out for as we inch closer to the start of the NFL season. The NFL Draft is the first, followed quickly by free agency. Another important milestone is the beginning of training camps in late July, and that leads directly into the preseason and one of the things that really gets us pumped for the upcoming season: the return of Hard Knocks on HBO and HBO Max.

Now that training camps have begun, we’re just days away from the premiere of the newest edition of Hard Knocks, its 25th overall. Here’s a preview of NFL Films’ latest installment in the annual behind-the-scenes look at NFL training camp.

What Team is on ‘Hard Knocks’ This Preseason?

Reigning MVP Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills will be featured on Hard Knocks this preseason. Last year, the Bills ran away with the AFC East division and spanked the Denver Broncos in their first round playoff matchup. A close win over the Baltimore Ravens took them to Kansas City for an AFC Championship clash with the Chiefs. But a couple of controversial calls went against them and the Chiefs advanced to the Super Bowl, continuing Bills fans' 30-year wait for a return to the Big Game, which they lost four straight times from 1991-94.

When Does ‘Hard Knocks’ Premiere?

The new season of Hard Knocks premieres Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 9pm ET on HBO and HBO Max. The five-episode season will launch new episodes on subsequent Tuesdays, with the season finale airing on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Who was on ‘Hard Knocks’ in 2024?

For the first time, there were three Hard Knocks series in 2024. The New York Giants were featured in the first-ever “offseason” edition of the series; the Chicago Bears were given the spotlight during the preseason; and the AFC North teams – Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers – were featured during the “in season” edition of the show.

This year’s Hard Knocks: In Season will focus on the NFC East, which means another feature from the all-time leader in Hard Knocks appearances, Dallas Cowboys. Of course, the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles also play in the NFC East, along with the New York Giants and the surging Washington Commanders.
